Hi all,Oh, my God, and this idiot librarian is trying to tell Judy S. what to read! I'd like to see *her* list! I recognize many authors on that list , but some I'm not familiar with. I'm going to have to research them. Wow! Yeh, love George Seldom. All these authors seem to be meaty ones, not shallow or frivolous. Some are fun and funny, and that's great! I tried reading John Gresham but couldn't get into his legal thrillers. However, I read Skipping Christmas and laughed myself silly. The cat probably wondered what on earth was going on!
Frankly, one of the criteria I base good literature on is whether the author can talk about serious things and also humorous ones in the same incident. There are always funny things that happen, even in the direst circumstances. If you can laugh and cry at the same time, that's real living. Any author who can do that is on my good list!
Just in case anyone asks, here are a list of some of my favorits. J.R.R. Tolkien C.S. Lewis Madeleine L'Engle Arthur C. Clark David Eddings Dana Stabenow Kathy Reichs Clive Cussler Taylor Caldwell Booth Tarkington Charles Dickens Mark Twain Tony Hillerman Faye Kellerman There are a bunch more, but to list them all would take up too much time.
