With my version of duxbury it writes out in braille the symbol's name. For
example a + is represented by the word plus, a ± sign is represented by the
words plus-or-minus sign, smile.

I have Duxbury 10.5 which is not the most recent one. I wonder if the
Bookshare one would do the same.

Hi Jamie,

I think that you'll have to represent all math symbols in
language as well as in their traditional form. Math symbols + - =
and the divided by sign that you are talking about won't be
handled at all by the braille translator. So, if you want braille
readers to get anything out of that book, you'll need to use the
words along with the symbols.

Sorry this isn't my most coherent note. I still need coffee.

Peace,
Mayrie
