[bookport] Spyder error solved

Hi Larry,

Spyder's up and working again - here's what I found out, using Spyder in
connection
with the freeware "Outpost" firewall:

1. When I set the level of protection in "Outpost" to the "Block most"
mode, both Book Port
Transfer and Book Port Spyder are blocked access to the Internet.

2. When I register Book Port Transfer as a "Trusted Application" in
Outpost, Book Port
Transfer can access the Internet and access software and firmware
updates, but Book Port Spyder's
access to the Internet remains blocked. I can't find any way to
register Book Port Spyder separately
as a "Trusted Application", since there doesn't seem to be a separate
".exe" file for Spyder..

3. If I exit and completely shut down Outpost, Book Port Spyder's access
to the Internet remains blocked (which I don't
quite understand why, by the way).

4. When I set the level of protection in "Outpost" to the "Allow most"
mode, both Book Port
Transfer and Book Port Spyder have access to the Internet.

5. I now leave my firewall settings at the "Allow most" mode, and both
Book Port
Transfer and Book Port Spyder can access the Internet, allowing me to
download HTML
files as well as software and firmware updates without any difficulty.

Hope this info helps other users!

Peter
