You do not, I say again not, need the transfer program to store mp3 files on the book port. The exception would be if you want to process the file i.e. speed it up and a few other things I don't care about. This assumes mp3 files are constant bitrate files. And buy yourself a card reader otherwise copying files to the card using the bookport might take all day.
