The key word here is "convince". And then if you are able to accomplish
that, then you will probably have to wait 6-12 weeks for them to get the
unlocked file to you. Part of my job responsibilities is to deal with
publishers and other resources to get course material in alternative formats
for our post secondary students.

Although the Bookport does not support pdf format, if you click "save as
text in the file menu in Adobe Reader you can then send that file to the
Bookport. That is, unless the supplier has set security controls to prevent
you from doing this. Even then, if you contact the supplier and explain the
reason, you may convince them to send you a copy without the controls.
