I am wondering if your BookPort might have a hardware problem. = Unfortunately, I don't think this can be fixed without sending the unit = back to APH. As one who uses the BP every day, I understand fully how = unpleasant this is to contemplate, but I don't see any other solution. = You shouldn't have to wiggle the cable around to get it to work, and the = lock-up problem is probably related to a faulty USB port in your BP. Sorry for the bad news, Sarah -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Richard Ring Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 1:48 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Re: Problems with Book Port I doubt that the problem is being caused directly by Windows XP Service Pack II. I have had SP 2 installed on my home computer for a month or more, and I have not experienced these issues at all. -----Original Message----- From: bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bookport-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Michael Massey Sent: Friday, October 01, 2004 1:45 PM To: bookport@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bookport] Problems with Book Port Hi. I am having similar problems to a recent topic of discussion on this=3D20 list--book port not being recognized after firmware and software updates were installed. I am using Windows XP service pack two and am wondering if=3D20 this is causing this problem. When I connect the book port to the usb cable nothing happens. The software=3D20 does not launch unless I fiddle or jiggle the cable end closest to the book=3D20 port and then I can get the book port transfer to launch. After I=3D20 disconnect the book port it some times locks up and no amount of presses of=3D20 the two and the b keys reset the unit. I had to remove the = batteries=3D20 yesterday in order to get the unit going again. I even pressed the d e and=3D20 f keys so as not to lose my settings and lost them anyway. Anybody else had=3D20 this problem? Michael Massey=3D20
