I bet you could, provided you copied all associated files.

Okay, if you can connect the BP and defrag, can you, using
Windows Explorer, move files from one folder to another?

Walt:

I suspect that your crash after defrag was nothing more than a
coincidence.=3D
 You can not scramble the firmware by treating the card like a
drive.

With that said, I seriously doubt that defragging would really
make any =3D
difference on a flash card anyway, since there are no moving
parts. If the =3D
defragger removed directory holes, the Book Port may run a little
faster =3D
when moving between files.

>>> walt@xxxxxxxxxx 10/29/04 02:36PM >>>
I scared myself very seriously the other day and wanted to warn
others =3D
not=3D20
to do the same thing. Thinking I'd save a few seconds, I decided
to run =3D
a=3D20
disk defrag on my CompactFlash card while it was in the Book Port
and the =3D
BP=3D20
was connected to my PC via the USB cable. When it completed, the
BP was=3D20
stone dead and I really panicked, thinking that I might somehow
have =3D
managed=3D20
to wipe the program out of memory. I pulled the card and replaced
it, but =3D
no=3D20
joy. Finally, I pulled the batteries and replaced them and it
came back =3D
to=3D20
life. This was a stupid thing to do in the first place, but
Larry's =3D
recent=3D20
message indicating that there's a way to load the image from a CF
card=3D20
reminded me that I'd been meaning to mention this as something
that =3D
it's=3D20
advisable to not do, although it does appear that there's a way
to even =3D
get=3D20
yourself out of that particular hole.
