I suspect that your crash after defrag was nothing more than a coincidence.=
You can not scramble the firmware by treating the card like a drive.
With that said, I seriously doubt that defragging would really make any =
difference on a flash card anyway, since there are no moving parts. If the =
defragger removed directory holes, the Book Port may run a little faster =
when moving between files.

I scared myself very seriously the other day and wanted to warn others =

to do the same thing. Thinking I'd save a few seconds, I decided to run =

disk defrag on my CompactFlash card while it was in the Book Port and the =
BP=20
was connected to my PC via the USB cable. When it completed, the BP was=20
stone dead and I really panicked, thinking that I might somehow have =
managed=20
to wipe the program out of memory. I pulled the card and replaced it, but =
no=20
joy. Finally, I pulled the batteries and replaced them and it came back =
to=20
life. This was a stupid thing to do in the first place, but Larry's =
recent=20
message indicating that there's a way to load the image from a CF card=20
reminded me that I'd been meaning to mention this as something that =
it's=20
advisable to not do, although it does appear that there's a way to even =
get=20
yourself out of that particular hole.
