Just read June 10 post about Lake Abert. Haven't got to the High Country News
article yet. But in my county, just over the Oregon border, county
commissioners are protesting state water board's new requirements to measure
water diversions more closely. Driving the protests are dairy and lily farmers
claiming our north coast county has no threat of drought and one dairy claiming
a "pre-1914 water right." Water rights like 1872 Mining Law based in an age
before women even had the vote. Some changes need to be made.
