Trevor:
on the SR2, has anyone tried a modern Airheart 175X2QC11
I doubt it. The new type are stupid money. The new items need 5 1/4" c to c/
for mounting. The offset might not be similar also.
but the historic racing authorities in Europe are reluctant to accept them.
Using Wilwoods rightly so. Even tho if you remove the engraved logo on the
caliper.
Have you looked...>>

which is the manufaturer..."Tolomatic" in the USA. Besides being high dollar,
they have many issues...both the older and the new ones that have a plate
lining rather than the older "hockey Pucks". The older ones and mabe he newer
had retraction problems. They have a limit of the caliper pressure in the
caliper resivoir. You might use Lockheed /AP LD19 or the harder to
getLD20...both are iron, both were around in the mid 60's and should please the
Tech people and accept a 10 " to 10 3/4" rotor. Both use 3.5" width lugs, and
can be milled to 3.750". And also...how about Girlings or other period
calipers?
Getting back to your other problem...if you want to post up some pictures and
dimensions to see if some parts are availiable off the shelf.

In the never ending search for a new brake caliper to replace the original 4
pot Airhearts which will still fit within the Bobsy wheel rim on the SR2, has
anyone tried a modern Airheart 175X2QC11? It appears to have similar dimensions
and specification to the original, although Airhearts say it is now for an 11.4
ins rotor diameter. This rotor is too big for the Bobsy rim but I wonder if
the (unavoidable) overlap of the pad on a smaller rotor (say 10 ins) would make
a material difference? I cannot get one this side of the pond to try them for
size as no one sells them in Europe. Wilwoods would have been a much easier
solution but the historic racing authorities in Europe are reluctant to accept
them.Trevor Seckel
