Try killing the ".toc" files just for grins and giggles, and see if that helps, it is a shot in the dark, but maybe some setings are remembered in there.

Hi Lou,I did maximize windows with the alt space x and also the alt dash x and that didn't seem to help at all. Something is making those column headings all scrunch up together which my daughter can easily fix with the mouse. See if you have too many of the items checked off in the "Mailbox" area of teh options.? Are your windows maximized? I've my Eudora set to view best when maximized.?
