[blindav] Audio record setup for PC -

Hi all,
I want to record from a microphone to my PC with decent - high quality
sound. I understand I may need a new sound card or something with audio
input (auxiliary or something like that?).
It may be easier to explain, I want to record saxaphone (and other
instruments) with my PC, pull them into Audacity and mix/lay them over
tracks from other artists I am collaborating with.
I'm really new to this, so any suggestions - including other software for
this stuff are welcomed.
