Dear Chase , I downloaded the latest revision and loaded it into my BNS. It seems that I am using the BNS 2000 as this is the only version of the upgrade that will install in my BNS. The Status menu still tells me that I am using the 1999 revision but the update for 1999 was rejected as soon as I attempted to install it. I use the Macedit.bns program for writing macros. I noticed that the corruption problem occurred again in the datebook after I had run the Macedit program. I carried out the warm reset again and this seemed to clear the problem. I again ran the Macedit program and the problem came back. Another the warm reset fixed it back again. This is evidently a work around that I can use but I still don't understand what the problem is! Thanks for the support. There are two things you can do. You said that you are using a 1999 version of Braille 'n Speak firmware. You should download the latest update for your Braille 'n Speak, along with the latest version of Win Disk (version 3.5). You should go to: http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_downloads/noteaccess.asp and get the file for your particular Braille 'n Speak. Once your BNS is connected to your computer, and the file is downloaded, do the following: 1. Locate the update file with the .exe extension. 2. Open it, and extract the files. 3. Locate the files with the .bns extension. 4. Open win disk. 5. Put the .bns files on your Braille 'n Speak. 6. Unplug your Braille 'n Speak. 7. Open the .bns file. 8. Follow the instructions. The second thing you can do is to do a warm reset at power on. This is slightly more powerful than a normal warm reset, but it still doesn't erase any files. To do a warm reset at power on, do the following. 1. Press dots 1-2-3-4-5-6-chord (all of the keys on the Braille 'n Speak, even the spacebar) when the unit is off. 2. Keep that chord held down, and then press the power on switch. 3. Hold the chord for a few more seconds. 4. Let go of the chord. If this still doesn't work, you should probably visit the Freedom Scientific Support database, which might have the answer to your question. To get to the database, go to: http://www.freedomscientific.com/support and choose the link for your type of Braille 'n Speak, or go to: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ and find the support link. I find the Datebook extremely useful and, in fact, the text editing has saved my editing life more often than not! lately, I have begun to experience an error that I cannot understand. I hope you will be able to explain it to me. When I set up a calendar entry using Chord-O & e, I get the prompt "Add datebook entry enter a number of days or a date mmddyyyy". This is fine. The entry opens after I supply the date. I then press "a" to add a new entry. I can insert all the details of the appointment without any problem. I then press chord-e to close the edit and this almost always generates the error: "Error! code equals 49; code =30 physical range error 37cd6, range error 37cd6". Pressing the chord-e causes this message to repeat in its entirety without the "code 49". Can you help me to understand what is happening? Hi, well, I have a related question. I downloaded the latest firmware for my Braille Lite 2000 from FS but it won't install on my unit. Any ideas why? I've tried the disk drive and windisk methods of transfer. Incidentally, Windisk 3.5 works with older firmware revisions than FS state.
