Actually Baynard's portrayal of his blind detective is pretty good for
the 
time period.  Kendrick was one of the founding members of the Blinded 
Veterans Association.  Try them out and see what you can see, but I like
his 
representations.  he also wrote a novel about blinded war vets called
Lights 
Out.

His dogs do dog things to, not super dog not realistic dog things.
