Kelly,
So I know more then I did when I posted this.

I am the person and have low vision but for this conversation I am sighted.
I have 20+ of technical computer experience and would prefer to do this on
the Linux command line then in a windows gui.

I have someone who is doing the scanning for me on some fancy Canon
scanner. PDF Version 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x). I just need to OCR the PDF's.
