Hi Cindy & all:I am not sure I understand this entire thread, but if this is any help: I have Word2003, JAWS9, IE7 and XP HOME SP3. I put 4 * in a row (without spaces) in a word document. The 4 *'s displayed on the monitor and 4 *'s printed not a line of stars.

Hmmm. OF course I don't print out what I validate; I'll have to test that out. You mean it makes a horizontal line when printed although it doesn't on the monitor? Actually, though, I don't think I've done 4 stars in a row when I've validated--just one or two or four with spaces between them. But when one does 4 with spaces between them do the spaces get deleted by bookshare and thus the 4 are in a row? And then do they create the line? I wish I could remember what books I've done that in recently so someone could check, but I can't.But if it takes 4 to make a line, maybe one, two or three symbols can be used, or a combination.BTW, my fingers seem to mis-hit the brackets when I occasionally use them and I have to undo the wrong one and fix it. I'm afraid the same thing will happen with carets.Cindy --- On Thu, 9/11/08, Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:From: Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: pre-marking RTF files To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Thursday, September 11, 2008, 7:26 AM Hi Cindy, All I know is that if you type a star four times in succession and then hit the enter key, you will make a horizontal line of stars in the document. Works with dashes, underscores, numbersigns and equal signs. It shows when you print the thing. Ann P. -- Ann K.
