Hi Scott:

I have a comment regarding the quotes. Could it be because openbook puts in open and close quote rather than the traditional quotation mark? Just wondering.

Hi,

I assume you would mean a space before the quotation mark, and it doesn't appear as though there is. I've gone back and looked at the rtf files I submitted to Bookshare and I don't see anything out of the ordinary. There are quotes at the beginning and the end of sentences.

What's really odd is I've read many a book from Bookshare, books I didn't submit, and they've been fine. Now, the books that I submitted, have this problem. I'm accessing them the same way, using a Braillenote notetaker.

Very strange,
Scott

Could there be a space, there by tricking the translator into thinking that
it should have the opening Quotes.

I don't know otherwise, as Duxbury doesn't do that to me, and I use it all
the time to translate things.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] quotation marks

Hi all,

I have just been downloading a couple of the books I submitted in order to
see how they look in braille. For the most part things are ok, with one
exception. Where ever there is a quotated sentence, i.e. dialog, the mark
that begins the sentence is the same as the mark that closes the quotation.
So what I see is dots 2, 3, 6 to open, and dots 2, 3, 6 to close. Now, I
only see this in the dialog where there is a comma or question mark ending
the quotated sentence. The quotated sentences which end with period have the
correct dots 3, 5, 6.

Any idea why this happened? Is there something I can do to fix this when I
submit books in the future?

Thanks,
Scott
