As Mayrie says, there are several of us willing to send you the garbled text, and send you picture descriptions and cartoon descriptions for you to insert in the correct places if you let us know and we can get the print book. I hope it's not one of the Arthur Black books because I can't obtain any of his books from any of my libraries. As Mayrie says, just give us the information about the book and I or someone will help you.

    HI Darren,

You can leave the * * * as is. That's just fine.

For the garbled text, the optimal situation would be to get a
    print copy of
the book and type in the garbled text. If that isn't a
    possibility, perhaps
someone else could help you by acquiring the print copy of the
    book and
provide text that you need as you ask for it. If you need help,
    please let
us know the title, author, and ISBN of the book that you're
    working on.
    Maybe someone can help.

I hate to see text deleted from a book because it didn't scan
    well. But if
the garbled text is an artifact from a picture, you can definitely
    delete
    that.

    I hope that helps.

    Mayrie
