Yes, I've decided to just stick to Kurzweil, it seems a lot more efficient.

Hi listers. I'm wondering if the knfb reader has the capability of
transferring data from the cell phone to the computer.

Yes it can. I used Nokia PC Suite to set up the connection, and now my
computer shows the cell phone as a folder under My Computer.

Also it seems to
save things in a proprietary format, what if I scan a book and want to
submit it to bookshare, is there a way to convert the book to rtf?

It saves files as XMT and TXT, both. You could easily read the TXT on the
PC. If you changed it to RTF, I don't know if it would retain page
breaks.
I think using the KNFB Reader to scan a whole book would be a lot harder
than using a scanner. For one thing, it has to finish processing one page
before going on to scan another. This is a lot slower than K1000, which
can start scanning again pretty quick. Also, one can't fix scanning
options on the KNFB Reader to make quality better. You get what you get,
and that can vary from page to page, depending on how you hold the Reader
when you snap the picture.
I know people do use it to read books, but I think there are much more
efficient ways to do that, especially if you're going for quality, not
just reading.

thanks, Julia
