Very odd. Does the book actually have page numbers and the second chapter page has number 8 on it? Or are the page numbers missing, in which case there may be blank pages missing, but it's hard to tell where. Usually, books have chapter titles on odd pages and blank pages are on even pages before the chapter starts if that's needed to push the chapter start to the next odd page. However, your table of contents says both of the first two chapters start on even pages. It is possible this book has only the chapter title on the even page and the OCR didn't catch that, and then it just skipped over that page entirely. You probably should check whether the scanner still has the book and can check what is going on.

What was the book, Maybe someone on the list can find it online or in a library to check it out.

OK guys, same book as before but now here is the situation...
There is a table of contents which says each section of the book begins but the numbering is off. For example the first chapter begins on page 2 (according to the table of contents and in the document that is correct). The next section of that chapter should begin on page 10 but it doesn't, it begins on page 8. When read, the story appears to be complete so do I add 2 blank pages to get the numbering on track? What do I do?
