Hi all,

Actually, having an index in a print book is a good thing. Having an index in a Bookshare book may not be. You need to remember that books, in the main are written for printing, not for inclusion on the Internet or for use in a computer.

It may be that in future books will be written in something akin to XML so that one could read along, find a reference and "click" on it and be taken to a whole new chapter or page or section of the book or to something totally outside the original text. Books may eventually become as fluid and as nonliniar as web pages, but it hasn't happened yet. That's why you need indeces right now.
