When I've spent a long time proofing and the scanner wanted to know about
it, e.g., if I've forgotten or why it's taking so long, he/she has politely
written to me and asked.
I've tried to remember to write to the person first and explain that I'm
still working on it, but by this time the people for whom I proof know that
I'm working ont his/her book; if they're long books I work on other
books at the same tme, and I've told the scanner that that's what I'll be
doing. Also, before I acept a book to proof I'll ask if the scanner wants
it quickly, in which case I'll put it ahead of otherbooks. Sometimes I'll
release the file incase someone else wants to take it. In addition to
length and complications causing my proofing to take time, sometimes, as in
the case of one book I've released to make from for other books, it takes a
long time to get the print book; I've been on the waiting list for
Nourishing Traditions for what sems like forever. It's exceedingly popular.
