The wish list is indeed a bit large, but I am wondering about something. Back in, I think, February Carrie told us that in about a month she was going to start using grant money to buy educational books on the wish list and that if we had any particular desire for titles that would be considered educational we should add them to the wish list. At the time I could think of quite a few that I might want to add, but that was about the time that Cindy disappeared on us, so I refrained until we could find out if she was going to be available to update the list or if someone else could. When Cindy came back I still refrained because, not only was I uncertain about dumping a lot of work on her in her condition, but also because there was no further mention of the buy up of wish list books by Bookshare itself. Now pretty close to a year has passed. What ever happened to that plan? "I have no country to fight for; my country is the earth, and I am a citizen of the world." Eugene V. They will do adult educational books as well, but no romances orthings containing adult content. Bookshare funding is dependent upon howwell they follow the goals of the grant by adding 100,000 educational booksover a five-year period. We're about to go into year 3 of the grant, so Ithink we'll see even more books for kids in the future. That leaves us to scan and proofread books for pleasure. I'd like to recruitmore volunteers because I think we're making only a tiny dent in the amountof books for adults that people say they want to read. Our wish list ishuge, and I'd really like to find a way that we can get all of those booksadded to Bookshare. We would benefit from doubling our number of activevolunteers, especially if we could find some additional sighted volunteerswho could help with books that blind people have trouble proofreading.Monica Willyard"The best way to predict the future is to create it." -- Peter DruckerTo unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email tobksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
