Allison,

It might be that they think it will be too time consuming for their staff. No, I am not kidding about this. I am having a similar problem with my son's school. I want him to do his community hours with Bookshare and he is ready to do it. His counselor said that he does not need to worry about those hours until he gets to eleventh and twelfth grade. She refuses to deal with the issue because she has too many things to do. It is not like she will be supervising him or that the school has to provide the equipment. All she needs to do is give him credit for the time...too much work for her.

I am really happy that those 15 children are being given the opportunity to take full advantage of the learning tools available.

That is very exciting news! I'm thrilled. Thanks Monica for letting us
know.

You know, I never can figure why schools would decide they would not join
Bookshare. Monica mentioned that this school had previously said they were uninterested in signing up their students. I wonder why. I mean... it's free. They don't
really have anything to lose. Do you happen to know their original reason
for not signing students up? I ask so that we will know the concerns
schools are having in hopes that we can address them in the future. If one school had this view of Bookshare, I would guess that others do as well. So
any insight is appreciated.

Thanks again,

Allison
