Hi Lori,

I'm very sorry. I spelled your name improperly in my last note. Please
forgive me.

Mayrie

Hi, Marty,
Well, I hope there is an easier way.
As an experiment, I did a search and replace and removed the two paragraph
marks at the bottom of each page. Now I'm going through the book page by
page and am removing the soft page breaks that still occur. There seems to
be a character that is generating them. I'm not sure what will happen when I
add back the two paragraph marks at the bottom of each page.
I'm sorry you are having this problem too, but am glad to know I'm not
alone!
Lori

Hi Lori,
I've had this problem a couple of times since I installed Word 2010. I
really don't know why it happens; I wish I did. I have been able to delete
the soft page breaks sometimes. On one book, I had to take two pages (one
before and one after the offending soft page breaks) out of my book file,
copy them into a new file, clean them up by deleting the offenders, and then
put the two pages back in my original book file. I figure that there must
be an easier way. Hopefully someone here knows what it is. Meantime, I
wanted you to know that you're not alone!
Marty

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Problem with soft page breaks

I am proofreading with Windows 7 and Word Office 2010 and am encountering a
problem which I have not had before.

When I get to the bottom of a page, and sometimes at the top I have needed
to add a return before the first line of text or before or after a page
number at the bottom of the page.
On many pages, when I add a return I get a soft page break. I have changed
the page length to 22 inches, all side and top and bottom margins are set at
one inch. Also, I have checked to be sure that the white space above and
below each paragraph is set at zero.
Is there any other way to remove white space?
I know that soft page breaks are not a problem for the translator, but they
are a problem for me, simply because I find them confusing.
Does anyone have any idea why this problem is occurring and even more
important has to solve it?
Thanks.

Lori C.
