Hi Dan:
As for the voices on Victor Stream: It is a very low quality speach synthesizer, Victor says Eloquence requires more memory than they have available in the stream and could not be done without a complete new unit. Now I don't know if you have OpenBook8 or Kurzweil 11, but if so here is a nice work around for Bookshare books: I download the book bring it up in Kurzweil and convert it to MP3, using Kurzweils eloquence voice, then play it in other books. Both OpenBook and Kurzweil both have versions of Eloquence. Now as you probably know NLS books are human voice recordings and play fine on the stream.
HTH,

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] OT - voices on Victor Streams?

HI all,

I apologize for this question here but I know no one else who has nay of these devices.

I listened to the sample voices on the HumanWare site and they were severely breathy and distorted. Is this due to listening on the site across the internet or is it really like that listening to the device itself?

Thanks.
