Dear Lissi,

The two dots over a letter, usually and a or o, is
called an umlaut. I know it's used often in German;
I'm not sure about other languages.

Using the keyboard, with Microsoft Word for the Mac,
from Microsoft Office, I combine option plus u for the
umlaut, and then the letter, e.g., a; for the acute
accent, option key plus e and then the letter; and
for the grave, option plus the grave key and then the
letter. I don't know if these will work on whatever it
is you're using, though. I also in in my Word program
an Insert file and can go down to Symbols, find the
letter with the diacritical mark that I want, e.g., a
with the umlaut over it, and insert it into the word.
Do you have that?

Of course, since our circumstances and the programs ar
differentm it's possible that nothing I've said will
help you and you'll have to wait for someone else
toanswer your question. smile But since I'm here I
thought I'd give it a try.

Cindy
