Hi, Lissi! I'm glad the link proved to be useful for you. Last June I attended a virtual conference sponsored by that site, and I enjoyed it very much. It was a trip to attend a conference from my home office! There were exhibits, drawings, presentations... Just like a regular conference!

Thanks to you and cindy for checking on me. <Smile> I'm still having a pretty rough time of it, but I'm hanging in there. I've talked to a couple of friends who said that they had a hard time with strep infections, too. The concensus seems to be that it's just harder for adults to get over them than children, for some reason. I guess it's similar to the fact that having your tonsils removed when you're a child is much easier than when you're an adult. Fortunately, I haven't had to go through that! <Smile> To answer your question, though, I'm sure the symptoms are diminishing... Surely they are! <LOL> Like it or not, I do have to get out for a little while tomorrow, so I'm praying that I'll be feeling much better after one more good night's rest. Take care!

Jana

Dear Jana,

Thank you for yet another useful link.

This list is a treasure trove of information!

Are your Strep symptoms continuing to diminish?

I haven't mentioned it before but I must say your trip sounds as if it could be one of the nicest experiences of your life time. Please take precautions since you have been ill. Several friends who have traveled abroad have come home with serious respiratory and digestive infections. Try and stick to bottled drinks and look in to how best to dodge germs on your extended flights.

I love Welsh quires. Those traditional forms of music go out of favor in foreign countries as they do in the United States. I hope the beautiful arrangements and dedicated singers are being cherished and continued by some of the Welsh who love their heritage. Please share, OT your experiences on your trip and may your singing be sweet and a joy to you.

Always With Love,

Lissi

Hi, Donna! Just one more idea for you. There's an auction for adaptive products at
http://www.ocusource.com
that you may also want to look into. Just a thought!

Hi all,

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the suggestions about the Perkins brailler. I have to say, the idea of seeling it on EBay was quite a surprise, but then, I have heard you can sell *anything there. I'm going to take some time and look into it, and try and see where the brailler could be best utilized, and then I'll decide. But you guys came up with some great ideas that I would not have thought of and I appreciate the help.
Take care,
Donna

Hello:

Refurbished Perkins Braillers are routinely sold on Ebay for $250 and up. You ought to be able to get from $100-$150 for your machine.

Robert Jaquiss

Try selling it on ebay. Really. Or try putting an add in the Braille forum (ACB) the Monitor (NFB) or Ziegler. Someone out there wants them as they always have want ads for them.

Hi all,

Sorry for sending yet another OT post, but I have a situation that I thought folks from this list might be able to help with.

Last night my husband was working out in the garage, and stumbled upon the old Perkins Brailler that my parents bought me when I was just starting school. I have to say, these things are truly amazing, and could almost convince one to become a Ludite. They're built like tanks! I've had mine for over thirty-five years, and it still works as well as it did the day I got it! Now i can't think of *anything you could buy today that would last that long. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't really want to trade in my PC or Pacmate and go back to the old days, but I think we really lost something when we traded in durability and longevity for a throw-away culture.

Anyway, my little musings aside, I don't want this thing to just go into a land-fill somewhere, but I'm honestly not sure I'd ever use it again. Does anyone know someone or someplace that might actually have a use for it?
Thanks,
Donna
