Thanks, Lissi. I didn't know that about the caffeine. But my friend and my daughter both recently had bad experiences with their dogs getting hold of chocolate. My friend's dog ate a whole plate of brownies that she thought she's put high enough and back enough on a table to cool. Because there were other things in the brownies (flour, sugar, etc) and only 2 squares of chocolate total, he was o.k. after 3 days of being hyper, but nothing else. My daughter came home from work to find that her dog had somehow managed to knock down a small bowl of paper-wrapped smalll Hershey bars and eaten the whole thing, papers and all. She had to have her stomach pumped and had to be careful about diet for a few days--and I think drink lots of water, but fortunately she was ultimately o.k. We had to laugh at my daughter, though, because when I'd told her about my friend's dog and the brownies she was scornful of my friend for leaving the brownies where the dog could reach them.
