When I scan a book with footnotes I tend to try to do one page at a time
because those little footnotes are so easy for the OCR program to miss and
too hard to go back and hunt down if you're several or a hundred pages into
the book. So I just add the parenthesis at the same time I'm making sure
they are there. Tedious, for sure.
