Thank you, Cindy. Playing with settings and having good scanning software helps.
Scanning software has come a long way. The first book I scanned came out pretty bad. Now that I think of it I don't think I read it. It had too many errors. Probably due to human error. *grin* My second attempt ended up in good shape, but with a lot of rescanning pages to get it right.

Me, too. I think when I started I used the lid and found out through list discussions that we're not spposed to--it's mainly a dust lid--that scans are best with hand pressure on the books, especially when pressing at the spine. I don't have any problems with library or hard-bound books pressing the spine down, i.e., it doesn't seem to adversely affect the book. But what you're doing seems to get excellent scans. As far as library books, the ones I've gotten the bindings were pretty beat up and so I didn't have to put much pressure on them.
