Amen to that Mike, after all that was one of Bookshare's strengths was that a
committee doesn't decree what we should and should not have in the library.
I do agree though that a new set of subject and categories is most definitely
needed!

The people who burned witches at the stake never for one moment thought of
their act as violence;
rather they thought of it as an act of divinely mandated righteousness.
The same can be said of most of the violence we humans have ever committed.

I appreciate MS McNeely's point that the library needs more structure. It is
my hope that she will also appreciate the value of scanners contributing what
they want to scan and proof readers proofing what they want to read. We will
be helped by a more structured collection because it should make things easier
to find, especially if we should want to do some research.

Pavi, thanks so much for arranging this introduction for us. Many of us
have been hoping, praying, and cheering for having a librarian on staff, so
this is excellent news for us. It sounds like Benetech has chosen a woman with
the right skills for the job, someone who understands digital books and the
mission of Bookshare. This is very cool! (smile)
