Hi all,

Just an explanation for those who don't understand. What happened here is that the gentleman is using what is called an auto-responder. This program sends a pre-written message to anyone who sends him email. The purpose is to let individuals who send him email know that he is out of the office and will be back on a certain day.

The problem comes when people tell the auto-responder to go off whenever they get email from a list as well as from individuals. In the case of lists the responder goes off whenever the person gets email from the list. When he gets such a message, his auto-responder sends the pre-written reply to the list. This happens whenever someone sends email to the list. This causes frustration, archive bloat and general irritation toward the person who didn't configure the auto-responder correctly. You can tell these programs to ignore email lists. That way, we don't get his auto-responder yawping at us when we send email to the list. Does that help?

I believe somebody put him on nomail or unsubbed him until he can get his auto-responder sorted out.
