Hi Danielle,

Welcome to the volunteer community! The first thing that you need to do is decide exactly what you'd like to do. Would you prefer scanning (if you have a scanner) or proofreading? There's all kinds of information on the Bookshare website. Looking through that might help you decide. Are you sighted or blind? If you are sighted, there is also image description, and you might like to do that. Once you choose, if you'd like a mentor, you need to ask one of the staff members to get one for you. Once you get started, you can post any questions you might have on this list. There are lots of us who are very willing and able to assist you. I just love being a volunteer here at bookshare; it's the most fulfilling thing I've ever done. Again, Welcome!

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Greetings

Hi.
My name, as you see, is Danielle.
I am new to Bookshare volunteering, and I was told that this list is a
helpful resource to have as a volunteer.
Is there anything I should know about volunteering with Bookshare in
general or anything else?

Any help is appreciated.

Danielle
