Dear Laurie Alice,

Anastasia's idea that the extra page breaks indicate pages with illustrations is a good one.

Does your book have page numbers? If those extra breaks are, in fact pages, then maybe the page numbers on the pages with text go up by twos instead of ones in which the sets of page breaks are accurate.

If I were validating your book and the numbers on the pages with text were consecutive, I'd probably delete the extra breaks. If it was a children's book with no page numbers or every other number was missing, I'd leave them alone, wishing the whole time they weren't there.

If the uncertainty was really bothering me, which it might, I'd ask on list in case someone here scanned the book and could answer your question, or ask Cindy if she would be willing to get the book from her library and use her eyes to resolve the issue. Her clarifications have given me peace of mind when I've been out of ideas about how to resolve mysteries in some books.

When I learn to scan, which I am finally determined to do, I'll be able to get books like yours from the library and solve some problems myself...what a concept!

I'm curious, now. I hope you'll let us know if you discover the cause of the double page breaks. Good luck.

Always with love,

Lissi

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Extra Page Breaks

The book I am validating has two page breaks between each page instead of just one. Should I go through this and delete the extra page breaks? I started to, as I find them annoying, then thought perhaps I shouldn't, though I can't imagein why they are there.
