I discovered a couple of things today. Back in February, I submitted a book called Happiness Is A Choice, and it was added to the collection last month. It is rated as fair. However, the text itself is quite readable. It uses a lot of Biblical names, proper names, and abbreviations of books in the Bible. Since these words are unknown to the Bookshare system, I wonder what the quality of the text actually is. I have no way of knowing that, but I suspect that the rating of good would be more appropriate.

That got me poking around in the books rated as good and fair. I learned that quite a few of them are in the same boat as my submission. Of course, there are some books that are truly messed up. What I'm trying to point out though is that there may be quite a few books with a rating of good or fair that are actually better than their rating implies. If that's true, people who don't download good rated books could be missing out on something actually worth reading. I wonder how this rating system could be improved to be more accurate about a book's quality.
