Judy, you're right. The CanoScans do very nicely when using grayscale. I
used to scan most of my books using that as a default. The scanned images
are larger, and it scans a little more slowly. It's worth the effort though
because the scans are clearer. It makes proofreading easier, so you save
time in the end.
