I have gotten much better response from the check-out list with the shorter pages so thank you Scott for letting us know about why that happens. However, when BKS first sarted we could get 100 book titles easily. Did we just get too big? (smiles) Ah technology it marches on and sometimes gets worse! (smiles) Off todo some proofing! have not felt well enough in the last couple of weeks to fuss with braille display or computer so behind.

Hi Scott!

Just curious about the slow checkout list, and have been for some time. The slowdown seemed to happen late last summer or early fall. Does something check for more stuff than it did when the checkout list was speedy? It seems like there had to be some change to cause the slowdown.

That's great to read that engineering has moved this item farther up on their to-do list.

I thank them in advance for their forthcoming efforts in solving this problem so I can go back to having the maximum size checkout page instead of the minimum of 25 items per page..

On the question of slow Check Out Lists:

Engineering has been debating a number of possible solutions. One involves some major work to use a new tool on the server for searching with the expectation that this will speed things considerably. The good news is that, in the prioritization system we use in-house for engineering tasks, this is currently #5 in a list extending beyond 100 tasks.

Thanks, Mayrie.
Do you know if Bookshare is working on it?

Hi Christina,

Use the smallest number of results per page. Even then it takes forever and a day to load the next page of results, but at least it will load, most of the time. Also, changing the sort order won't speed up the page loads, but you'll at least get a different set of results when starting out.

Hope that helps some. It is a huge pain in the neck, I agree.

Mayrie

Hello, list.
A couple other volunteers e-mailed me because they aren't able to move beyond the first page of books in the check-out list.
I remember reading something about this a little while ago.

What's the work-around for this?
Thank you.
Christina
