Hi mariann, that book may be a bit of a challenge to scan. I am working on the Complete idiots Guide to chess. The one bit of advise from playing chess, is to have a physical chess board in front of you while you are playing or reading the books. It just makes the moves conceps and ideas much more clearer. A functional and good set can be bought for $20 from www.braillebookstore.com there are other sets but tis one is a good beginner one and not a huge investment when others can cost twice to three times as much. It isn't a conversation piece though as the others can be, as it is pretty rough but functional. But I have a feeling from workng on other "for Dummies" books that you are going to need some sighted assistance with it. have fun with the chess. I started learning chess through the hadley course. The same can be said of most of the violence we humans have ever committed. -Gil Bailie, author and lecturer (b. 1944) ----- Original Message ----- From: Mary Anne Lynskey To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Sunday, January 04, 2009 9:57 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Books I am scanning I will be scanning the following two books. Both are by Rhys Boen. In Dublin's FairCity Oh Danny Boy I've also just started playing email chess and I've ordered a book from our library. Would there be someone in the group who could work on the diagrams as necessary for me? I haven't seen the book yet so don't know what it is like. It's just a good place for me to start. The book is: Chess for Dummies If anyone would be interested in helping with this project, I'll get more info about the chess book. I probably won't have the book for a week or so so don't know how feasible it will be for me to do it. Are there any chess books on the site? I don't know how to look by subject. Thanks.
