Debby, Not Mayrie, but ...When you put in a book quality report, if there is a major problem, the book is sent to people contracted by bookshare (called outsourcers) to be redone. If there is a small, but really annoying problem like the 1 in place of I problem, I think you can mention in your report that you would be willing to fix it. Then Carrie or whoever handles the report may put the file back into the checkout queue with a hold for you and send an email saying it is ready for you to fix. Or it will just be fixed by someone at bookshare.
So, don't worry that putting in a quality report will make more work for the original scanner or proofer. That's not what happens. But the book does get fixed, sometime amazingly quickly.

Hi Mayrie!I have never been clear on this. What happens after someone makes a book quality report? I have read a number of books in my Bookshare membership life that have the number 1 in place of the pronoun I. Otherwise, the books have been quite readable. No particular books are popping into my mind at the moment, but it would be nice if the minor correction could be made. I have not submitted a book quality report, because I don't want someone to have to rescan a book and have it proofread again for such a simple thing to fix with a find and replace.Debby At 07:41 PM 6/1/2011, Mayrie ReNae wroteIf you find it a real problem and can't access the books comfortably on your computer via your browser, perhaps you would consider making a book qualityreport.--mailto:<the.bee@xxxxxxxxxxxx>--Enjoy what you have rather than desiring what you don't have.
