Hi Lisa,
What you want to do is use Roman Numerals in a different case: if the Roman Numerals are in the lower case in the book, then put the preliminary pages in upper case. Does this make sense? HTH!

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Book Numbering

Hello everybody,

I am proofing this book where the Roman numerals start on page i, but there are five or six pages of preliminary materials before the Roman numerals. Should I leave a bunch of pages at the beginning unnumbered, or should change the numbering, placing Roman numeral i at the beginning of the book?

Thanks,
Lisa
