If you think noting the breaks with asterisks is critical to understanding
the text you can use one asterisk to note breaks without any asterisks and
three to note breaks with existing asterisks.

I have a problem with a particular book. We're supposed to set off breaks in
a book with three stars. This books has breaks with stars and many more
without. For my own purposes I have changed those stars already in the book to
bullets just so I can find them. What should I do about this?
