This afternoon there was a tiny baby duck swimming and foraging in the shallows of one of my ponds. I'm guessing it was a Mallard since I have been seeing a pair of Mallards on one pond or another for some time and once saw them walking along a fencerow some distance from any of the ponds. This is the first time any species of waterfowl has nested close by enough for a baby duck to show up on any of my ponds.
