Hi All,
Les and I had a YELLOW-BILL CUCKO up close and personal in our American
Linden Tree beside the house. We were having breakfast in our upstairs
sunroom when Les spotted it. It had a large caterpillar;;ar in its mouth,
flew away, and returned again and again. "Our" wild turkeys have been active
lately. The young-uns make a lot of noise. A WOOD PEEWEE has been around the
yard, as well as EASTERN TOWHEES, SCARLET TANAGERS, BROWN THRASHER,
HAIRY-RED BELLIED-DoWNY-PILEATED WOODPECKERS, NORTHERN FLICKER,
WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCH, HOUSE FINCHES, CAROLINA CHICKADEE,TUFTED TITMOUSE,
BLUE JAY, CARDINALS, and other usual yard birds. I can usually count 16-20
species in the yard within an hour or so on any given day. ONE OF MY
FAVORITES HAS ALREADY LEFT ON MIGRATION-THE WONDERFUIL wood thrush.
Cheers,
Joan of Art and Nature (Carr) in extreme eastern Pike Co.
