Figured out where Carolina Wren is constructing its nest - inside a plastic bag
hanging on a nail in my shop. Bag contains rag shreds of an old flannel sheet.
Wren must have noticed that I have 3 rolls of shop towels out there and don't
need the rags.
Photoed Jeeves with a buttercup in the same field of view just to have
a record for April.
Went to Parsons Pond this afternoon. Got threatened out by a black
cloud before covering both ponds, but I did manage to ID 9 waterfowl species &
3 shorebird species - Mallard - 6, Wood Duck - 2, American Widgeon - 3,
Blue-winged Teal - 32, Green-winged Teal - 1, Gadwall - 3, Ruddy Duck - 1, Coot
- 3, Pied-billed Grebe - 2, Pectoral Sandpiper - 20, Wilson's Snipe - 5,
Killdeer - 3, American Pipit - 1. There were 4 yellowlegs by the small pond,
but I headed for the truck without walking close enough to ID them to species.
As it was, rain began just as I got into truck. Second downpour of the day.
