Found 2 Upland Sandpipers in McCracken county today on my way to Ballard. The recent rains and rising rivers have apparently scattered shorebirds away from their previously favored spots on BWMA. The following were observed on BWMA: Semi Plover 4 Killdeer 2 G. Yellowlegs 7 L. Yellowlegs 4 Solitary Sp. 5 Spotted Sp. 6 Least Sp. 12 G. Egret 8 Snowy Egret 1 Bald Eagle 1 Additionally a large group (75 to 125) pipits were observed flying high over private property near the refuge as were a small group a shorebirds that were most likely Pectoral Sandpipers. Also had 1 Osprey about a mile from the refuge in a tree overlooking a large pond. The Baird's sandpiper that was seen on the 22nd was not relocated.
