Hi fellow birders,
This is my first email to this wonderful listserv and I hope it doesn't
ruffle feathers, as it may seem like some dodgy self-promotion (maybe it
is?!)... but I wanted to let you know that the KOS virtual Spring Meeting
got a shout out on Sunday on a radio show and podcast called *Ray Brown's
Talkin' Birds*. (Full disclaimer: I work for Ray... but I was a genuine fan
of the show before that...and still am!) The show is broadcast live on
Sunday mornings from a station in Massachusetts, and anyone with an
internet connection can listen live online from our website, but most
people listen as a podcast (which are always free, and can be downloaded to
your smartphone and listened to any time you like). I used to live in
Boston (and thus came to work for Ray), but moved to Fort Knox with my
soldier husband last year (so that explains that).
At any rate, last week when I read the email about the virtual meeting and
the invitation for anyone to tell everyone, I thought it might be fun to
get the word out to some of our 10,000 country-wide (and international!)
listeners, especially in case it helped increase the participation (and
membership) of the KOS amongst our listeners here in Kentucky. I also enjoy
having Ray let our listeners know about bird festivals and events all over
the country, because it's a fun way to feel connected to bird watchers who
live in other places... So there would have been a shout out on the air if
it were the originally planned face-to-face Spring Meeting too. :)
