That's what I do for the KY elk hunt each year. I send them my $10 to get in the lottery. If I ever got drawn, I'd also get the elk permit, but I wouldn't go. Not that I'm anti-hunting, I'm just not interested in shooting an elk. Actually, I really would go but with my camera instead. At least KDFWR gets much needed funds for their programs. I also buy a hunting/fishing license every year. That seems to be the current trend. It raises money for the wildlife management programs (they do need it). If we birders enter the lottery for the hunting permits a certain number of them will fall into our hands and protect a few birds.
