I will respectfully yield to my distinguished colleague from Jefferson County, since a whole big bunch more went over since my first post, all of them heading north. They're flying relatively low, giving good looks. Those who enjoy seeing the cranes in western Hardin County should be prepared to head that way during the next week if the relatively mild weather continues. We will surely get more cold weather, but the first warm spells of mid- to late January have been bringing the first big numbers back north during the past ten years or so. For example, one of our larger counts in years prior to the past several was a tally of about 6000 near Cecilia that David Roemer recorded on 30 January 2007. And that ended up being the peak count near Cecilia that year. Hopefully birds will be numerous near Cecilia for several weeks, but if warm weather continues, they may continue back north into Indiana pretty rapidly .... bpb, Louisville -----Original Message----- >From: sk <kistlers@xxxxxxxxx> >Sent: Jan 18, 2015 10:42 AM >To: dmarc-noreply@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx >Subject: [birdky] Re: Sandhill Cranes Louisvillle KY > >Cranes moving in good numbers over Hart County this morning.
