I thought I’d already done okay this morning when I captured a pretty dim image
of a Red-headed Woodpecker on the same dead walnut as one of the Kestrels.
Then, as I walked by middle pond on the way to get a head count on the cattle,
I spotted a Ruddy Duck dabbling by Tire Island. I was about 50 feet from it,
but It kept swimming in such a way that kept vegetation between me and it.
Backtracked and approached from behind little building by pond. It didn’t seem
to notice me from there as I clicked away at a range of 30 feet or less with a
window frame to steady the camera.
